Need to forward calls from GoDaddy Conversations? Here's a step-by-step video:
First, turn off spam blocking in Upfirst (just for setup)
Log in to your Upfirst account.
Go to Settings → Call Filtering.
Temporarily turn off Spam blocking. This is only needed so GoDaddy can call your Upfirst number with a verification code.
Next, set up call forwarding in GoDaddy
Open the GoDaddy app and click the person icon at the bottom right.
Click "Business Calling and Texting" → Settings.
Turn off the Auto Attendant if it's enabled.
Set your Call Availability to 24/7. If you have custom availability hours, calls outside those hours will go to voicemail instead of forwarding to Upfirst. Since you're forwarding to AI, you'll want it available around the clock.
Select Calling Method.
Next to "Mobile Number," click Edit.
Enter your Upfirst number and click Continue.
Important: Choose "Call me to confirm instead" (Upfirst numbers can't receive texts). This option appears after you click Continue.
Wait about 20 seconds for GoDaddy to call your Upfirst number.
Log in to your Upfirst account, refresh the page, click on the latest call, and note the verification code from the transcript.
Type that code back into GoDaddy to finish setup.
Important: GoDaddy doesn't pass through caller ID
Unfortunately, GoDaddy Conversations has a limitation—when calls are forwarded, your Upfirst account will show your GoDaddy number as the caller ID, not the original caller's number. This means if someone calls and hangs up, you won't have their callback number.
Here's how to work around this:
How to update your Upfirst agent to capture caller phone numbers
Since GoDaddy doesn't pass through the real caller ID, you'll need to configure your Upfirst agent to always ask for a callback number.
Log in to your Upfirst account and go to your agent settings.
Turn off the default phone field.
Add a new field called "Phone Number".
Add this to your additional instructions:
Ask the caller for the best callback number. If they say, "The number I'm calling from" let them know you're not able to see their caller ID. In the summary, state the number in E.164 format.
Save your changes.
Now, your Upfirst receptionist will always capture a valid callback number, even though GoDaddy doesn't pass through the original caller ID.
