How to forward calls from Zoom

With Zoom, you're able to forward some or all of your calls to Upfirst. Here's how.

You can forward your Zoom Phone calls to your Upfirst virtual receptionist in a few different ways:

  • Forward all calls (during business hours)

  • Forward only missed or busy calls

  • Forward all calls outside business hours

Follow the steps below for the option that works best for you.

Before You Start

  1. Find your Upfirst number.

    • Log in to your Upfirst account.

    • Go to Agent > Agent settings. Your forwarding number will be listed there.

  2. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.

    • Go to Zoom.

    • In the left-hand menu, click Phone, then click the Settings tab.

Forward all calls

Use this option if you want every call to go straight to Upfirst. You will not have a chance to pick up calls yourself.

  1. In Zoom, go to Phone > Settings.

  2. Find the Business Hours section.

  3. Click Edit next to Call Handling.

  4. Click Add Phone Number.

  5. Select External Phone Number and enter your Upfirst number.

  6. Check the box and click Acknowledge.

  7. Turn OFF the "Require to press 1 before connecting the call" toggle.

  8. Turn OFF the toggles for:

    • Zoom Phone Appliance Apps

    • Zoom Mobile Apps

    • Zoom Desktop Apps

Important: Scroll down to the Closed Hours section and repeat these steps if you also want all after-hours calls to go to Upfirst.

Forward only missed calls or busy calls

Use this option if you want to answer calls yourself first, but have Upfirst take over when you’re on another call or don’t answer.

  1. In Zoom, go to Phone > Settings.

  2. Scroll to When I’m busy on another call.

  3. In the dropdown menu, select Forward to external number.

  4. Enter your Upfirst number.

  5. Turn OFF "Require to press 1 before connecting the call."

  6. Check the box and click Acknowledge.

  7. Click Save.

Next:

  • Repeat steps 2–6 under When a call is not answered.

  • Adjust the Max wait time (how long Zoom rings before forwarding to Upfirst).

Forward only after-hours calls

Use this option to send all calls after hours directly to Upfirst.

  1. In Zoom, go to Phone > Settings.

  2. Make sure your Business Hours are set correctly.

  3. Scroll to the Closed Hours section.

  4. Click Edit next to Call Handling.

  5. Click Add Phone Number.

  6. Select External Phone Number and enter your Upfirst number.

  7. Check the box and click Acknowledge.

  8. Turn OFF "Require to press 1 before connecting the call."

  9. Turn OFF the toggles for:

    • Zoom Phone Appliance Apps

    • Zoom Mobile Apps

    • Zoom Desktop Apps
