If you use Square Scheduling to manage your appointments, you can connect it to Upfirst so your receptionist can view open time slots and book appointments for callers automatically. This works for any service you've set up in Square, like haircuts, consultations, massages, or classes.
Before you start
Your Square Scheduling account needs to be fully set up before connecting. That means:
Your location is configured
You can accept payments
You've created the services you want to offer
If you've been using Square Scheduling for a while, you're already set.
How to connect Square
1. Open Integrations
Go to Integrations in the left sidebar and find Square.
2. Enable the integration
Click Enable. You'll be redirected to Square to sign in and grant Upfirst permission to view and edit your calendar. Click Allow.
3. Confirm the connection
You'll be taken back to Upfirst. Your Square calendar should now show as connected.
How to create appointment types
4. Go to Scheduling
Navigate to Agents > Scheduling.
5. Add an appointment type
Click Add appointment type. Under Calendar, select your Square calendar. Then choose which service this appointment type should book for.
6. Select the service
Under 'Calendar', select the Square calendar you would like to book into. Then, under 'Service', select the type of service you want this particular appointment type to book for.
7. Add instructions
Fill in the additional instructions to tell your receptionist when to offer this appointment to callers. For example: "Offer this to callers who ask about a haircut or want to book a trim."
7. Save
Review the details and click Save appointment type.
Multiple services
If you offer more than one service through Square, create a separate appointment type for each. Repeat steps 5-7 for every service you want your receptionist to book.
Things to know
Your receptionist will only book for services you've created appointment types for in Upfirst
If your Square calendar isn't showing services, make sure they're set up in your Square Scheduling account first
You can edit or remove appointment types anytime from Agents > Scheduling
This integration works alongside other calendar integrations (Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.) if you have multiple calendars connected
