Sometimes words are pronounced differently than they're spelled. If your AI receptionist is mispronouncing your business name, a person's name, or any other word, here are a few workarounds.
Try a different voice
Each voice handles pronunciation slightly differently. Switch voices in your settings to see if another one pronounces the word correctly out of the box.
Write it out phonetically
This is the most reliable method. Replace the word with a phonetic spelling throughout your knowledge base. For example, if "Angelica" should be pronounced "An-heh-lica," write it as "Anhelica" everywhere it appears.
Add a pronunciation instruction
If you'd rather not rewrite it everywhere, you can add a knowledge base entry with a specific instruction, like: "Always pronounce Angelica as Anhelica. If a caller asks how to spell it, share the correct spelling, but always use the Anhelica pronunciation when speaking."
