Here’s how to forward your calls from your Google Voice number:

  1. On a computer, go to your Google Voice account

  2. Start by creating a rule, or editing an existing one

  3. Look for the “Take the following action” tab, and click Forward calls

  4. Under the tab “Forward to these numbers,” choose the linked number you’d like to forward calls to

  5. Click Save at the bottom

How to update your Google Voice settings to forward the right caller ID

Fortunately, it’s a really simple fix and should take less than a minute. Here’s how:

  1. Open your Google Voice app

  2. At the top left, tape Menu > then go to Settings

  3. Scroll to Calls

  4. Look for “Show my Google Voice number as caller ID when forwarding calls”.

  5. This should be toggled “Off”

Now, when you forward calls from your Google Voice number, the real caller ID will show up in the summary and transcript, making follow-ups much less confusing and much more accurate.
